Using A Polarizer

I recently bought some filters and one of them was a Polarizer filter. I using a highly reflective subject to test it out.

Here you can see the reflection is present on the side of the car in the first picture not has disappeared in the second.

Shutter Speeds

I decided to go to a motorway bridge at night to experiment with different shutter speeds and light trails.
I noticed that the slower the shutter speed the longer the light trails from the headlights and they were longer on the cars that were closer.

ISO 800
Shutter Speed - 1.0 sec
Aperture F5.0

Drop Focus

DROP FOCUS TECHNIQUE
This is when you employ a shallow depth of field, (f.5.6 in this case), but change your focal point to an area of the image. The focal length extends to both sides of the point of focus, so here we see blurring in the foreground and to the rear of the focal point.

Magic Hour

In photography, the Magic Hour(also known as golden hour) is the first and last hour of a sunlight during the day, when a specific photographic effect is achieved with the quality of the light.

The light is softer and warmer in hue, and shadows are longer. When the Sun is near the horizon, sunlight travels through more of the atmosphere, reducing its intensity, so that more of the illumination comes from the sky.

These are some images i took from ikea car park in Manchester where I witnessed a really incredible sunset!I only had my compact camera at the time but found the images were brilliant -even with just auto settings
